Fundaments aids Enschede ‘s youth thanks a donation to Stichting Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur
For years, Fundaments has been committed to the sports and cultural development of Enschede's youth, something that not every child is able to have without saying. This year, the Cloud provider from Enschede donates € 2500 to Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede, so that children who don't have the means can still take sports, music or drawing lessons, for example.
Raoul Werger, CEO at Fundaments: ‘Fundaments’ slogan is ‘GO BEYOND. BE THE BEST' and with these words in mind, we are happy to contribute our share. This year, we decided to donate € 2500 to Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede, because unfortunately, being able to play a sport or musical instrument is still not something all children can afford, especially with the current inflation and energy crisis.’
Jorrit van der Linden, coordinator of Stichting Leergeld and Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur Enschede: ‘We focus on families who are struggling to make ends meet and for whom it is not self-evident that children can simply participate. In Enschede, 1 in 5 children grow up in poverty, which is much higher than the national average. So we play a very big social role here. Unfortunately, we still notice that people do not know us or do not dare knock on our door because they are ashamed, for instance. Yet this year we have already helped over 1800 families in Enschede, amounting to some 3,400 children. Our ultimate goal? That is, of course, to eventually cease to exist altogether.’
“Thankfully, more and more companies are also showing their social commitment, including Fundaments. Thanks to these donations, among others, we can continue to aid families in Enschede. Together with the family, our volunteers go over the things they would like to qualify for. This could include swimming lessons or a membership at a sports club, but also a filled backpack or Chromebook for school. This year alone, we have provided a total of more than 13,000 facilities.’
“We also organise various amusing activities with our partners, such as a Sport & Fun Camp, sailing camp, day out to an amusement park or attending an FC Twente match. Together with Enschede's cultural sector, we also have a great offer during the holiday period. For instance, children can spend a day at the Museum Factory, watch a film at Concordia or learn about technology through one of Tetem's fun activities. We also work together with Stichting Onderwijsbegeleiding, where students from Saxion & University of Twente help with homework and learning for exams.’
ABOUT STICHTING LEERGELD AND JEUGDFONDS SPORT & CULTUUR ENSCHEDE
Making ends meet can be quite a task. This sometimes prevents children from participating in inner and outer school activities. Together with their parents, the Foundation helps children from Enschede. Parents can apply for a bicycle, computer, school bag or gym clothes, for example, or request compensation for the cost of a swimming certificate, school trip or study week.
Jeugdfonds Sport & Cultuur (part of Stichting Leergeld Enschede) pays the contribution to a sports or cultural association. Think of music or dance lessons, but also football, judo or gymnastics. They also make sure the children have the right clothes and equipment. By reimbursing these facilities, children can develop their knowledge, social skills, emotional skills and their talents in the best possible way so that they can later participate fully in society as adults.
