The various Storage as a Service (STaaS) solutions
At Fundaments, you can choose between two different storage services. Which one is most suitable for your organization depends heavily on your storage needs.
File storage
The first storage service is (NetApp) file storage. Filestorage is the most familiar way: data is stored in files that can be accessed via folders with a certain file structure. Fundaments NetApp file storage comes in different types, depending on the workload:
- Archive filestorage: for large volumes of archive data;
- Regular file storage: for generic workloads, such as an operating system, static web server or domain controller;
- Fast file storage: for performance workloads, such as applications that are used regularly;
- Fast Plus file storage: for write-intensive workloads, such as databases that are heavily used.
Object storage
The second storage service is (Dell EMC) object storage. Object storage is highly scalable and has no limitations of a file system. Fundaments object storage is offered on the basis of Dell EMC Elastic Cloud Storage: a clustered storage service that makes objects accessible via firewalling and load balancing access. This type of storage is often used for large amounts of archival data, such as graphics and log files.

100% control over your Cloud
Are you sure where your data is? That's what a sovereign Cloud can guarantee you. This guarantees that your data is on Dutch soil, that it is managed by a Dutch party, namely Fundaments, and that there is therefore full control over all your data. Fundaments IaaS is a completely Dutch platform, spread over seven data center locations in the East, Central and Western Netherlands. These are all Tier3+ locations: the highest achievable class for a Dutch data center at the moment. A Tier3+ data center has thought of everything in terms of security, including guaranteed power supply, burglary protection, water and fire detection and climate control.

FAQs
STaaS is suitable for organisations of various sizes and sectors that need flexible, scalable and cost-efficient storage solutions. It is ideal for purposes such as backup and recovery, archiving, big data analytics, multimedia storage and collaboration environments where files need to be shared. It is especially useful for organisations that want to avoid managing storage hardware themselves or for businesses that want to scale quickly without the complexity of traditional storage infrastructure.
Storage as a Service (STaaS) is a Cloud based storage solution where companies rent storage capacity instead of managing physical hardware themselves. It provides flexible, scalable storage based on usage, allowing organisations to pay only for the amount of storage they actually need. This differs from traditional storage solutions, where companies have to purchase, install and maintain servers and storage devices themselves.
Dell EMC ECS offers scalable object storage that can easily expand to manage huge volumes of unstructured data. It uses deduplication and compression to reduce storage costs and offers multi Cloud support, allowing data to be flexibly moved between different environments.
NetApp Filestorage is a type of storage that stores data as files in a hierarchical structure of folders and subfolders. It provides a scalable and reliable way to manage unstructured data such as documents, images, videos and backups. NetApp Filestorage is often used by businesses that want an easy way to share and manage their files, both locally and in the Cloud.
