What exactly does Pinewood do?

Richard: ‘We provide specialist security services and products that increase our customers’ resilience and security. Through our Security Operations Centre (SOC) and advisory services, we identify risks before they hurt, making our clients resilient against digital threats and therefore prepared for the future.’

How did you end up at Fundaments?

Sebastiaan: ‘We were looking for a new platform for our SOC environment, on which we run a SIEM that collects a lot of data. We were specifically looking for a secure Private Cloud platform for this. Basically to be able to analyse that data properly, quickly and in a secure way.’

Richard: ‘Herein, scalability was particularly important to us. We questioned how we could realise something like this both affordably and in the Netherlands. Having all our data stored in the Netherlands is also increasingly demanded by our customers. That's how we quickly arrived at Fundaments‘ Sovereign Cloud.’

How would you describe the collaboration between Pinewood and Fundaments? 

Richard: ‘We have been working together for over a year now and what we were looking for in a Cloud provider, which is continuity, we found it with Fundaments. After all, what we work with is mission critical data and therefore it is important that Fundaments' services are always available. In fact, not only the services, but also the people. Fundaments' team is there for us when we need them.

What is mission critical data for you?

Richard: ‘That's actually all of our customers’ data, because without data we can't do anything. Data loss is the biggest risk for us. We obviously secure the data of many customers, if that data is no longer available we can no longer monitor the customer and in that case things can go completely wrong. So, it's a whole chain of actions. For me, therefore, mission critical is that all data must be available at all times to do our work.’

Sebastiaan: ‘The sovereign Cloud is really just the go-to platform for us to be able to analyse our customers’ data, i.e. mission critical data, as well as to provide a reliable service.’

What does Fundaments solve for you?

Richard: ‘Fundaments actually relieves us in terms of technology. We purchase the entire infrastructure up to the OS layer from Fundaments, as well as Back-up as a Service. I don't want to have to worry about buying a server or storage, but instead want a portal I can keep building on without interruptions. Now, thanks to Fundaments, we don't have to buy or rent anything, but can move on with just a few clicks in the portal. This also saves us a lot of time and we save on staff. After all, we used to have colleagues who were dedicated to setting up or buying servers and storage and now we only have to be functionally occupied with our SIEM package, while the technical story lies with Fundaments. Besides, the difference in pricing with Microsoft, for instance, was also very significant.

What does the future between Fundaments and Pinewood look like?

Richard: ‘We are seeing an increasing amount of expansion as well as collaboration and I also expect more and more outsourcing of our technology layer. We currently still manage a part of it ourselves and we want to migrate that towards Fundaments as soon as possible, because we can be sure it is safely placed there and that everything will be handled properly.
