This is where Hello Blooming Overijssel was organised; an event bringing together students and IT companies.
Recent research has shown that IT students' willingness to continue working in Twente after graduation is astonishingly low: only 17 per cent of male science students intend to work for an IT company in Twente. Among female students, the figure is only 7 per cent. Source: Tubantia.
This percentage should, of course, be increased! Fundaments is keen to make efforts to preserve IT talent in Twente as well. This starts with informing students about what Twente has to offer in their future field.
Hacking the Cloud
During the event, we organised the ‘Hacking the Cloud’ workshop, which was packed within ten minutes. About 30 students were challenged to hack a web server as fast as possible. This turned into an exciting battle and of course we were on hand to provide the necessary tips and tricks.
Bas (20) and Lucas (17) ended up being the big winners of the ‘ethical hacking’ competition. Within 51 minutes, they ‘broke into’ the website we built especially for this purpose. The prize: an internship at Fundaments and a Google Home Mini Speaker! Congratulations Bas and Lucas!
