Press release: Fundaments wins European tender for Eindhoven Municipality

The assignment

With the end of the agreement of the current server storage environment in sight, the question quickly arose at the Municipality of Eindhoven: do we want to reinvest in a product or do we opt for infrastructure as a service? Marcel de Vries, IT project manager at the Municipality of Eindhoven: ‘Our architects therefore made an extensive note about the advantages of the Cloud and we decided to put the question out in the market.’ After that, in early 2023, the Municipality of Eindhoven chose to look for a new agreement to provide Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Back-up as a Service (BaaS), Disaster Recovery as a Service (DRaaS) and related services. In short, a secure IT environment including the virtualisation layer of associated storage and backup solutions, housed in the Municipality of Eindhoven's data centre locations. In addition, they were looking for a flexible and agile IT infrastructure to respond to the constantly changing needs in the market. All this without losing grip on data and with the crucial need for Time to Market in mind.

Fundaments' solution

With this assignment, Fundaments went to work. Ron Boscu, Manager Sales & Marketing at Fundaments, says: ‘With our Private Cloud proposition, we were able to convince the Municipality of Eindhoven that we could offer a flexible, solid, secure and future-proof IT infrastructure, which would enable the customer demand within the Municipality of Eindhoven to be met even better. We finally signed on February 7, 2024 in Eindhoven. We are extremely happy and proud that we have received the trust to jointly keep the Municipality of Eindhoven's data secure and accessible with our sovereign Private Cloud.’

At the Municipality of Eindhoven, they are also happy with Fundaments' solution. Marcel de Vries: ‘It turned out there were many companies offering a Private Cloud, but not in a Dutch data centre, and that was what we wanted. Thankfully, at Fundaments, such a sovereign Cloud was a given. Even during our first meeting, they demonstrated knowledge, openness and drive. They continued along these lines. For instance, they didn't let someone else do the installation of our hardware in the data centre; they did it themselves. The flexibility of IaaS is also nice: Fundaments is able to scale up as soon as we need more hardware. But most importantly, our environment is not shared with other customers. We have a so-called dedicated platform, so our hardware belongs only to us and no one else. The collaboration with Fundaments is exactly what we need at the Municipality of Eindhoven,’ Marcel concludes.
