Virtual Protection Groups

Zerto offers the possibility of protecting a group of workloads with a Virtual Protection Group: this principle allows to differentiate which workloads should be included in the contingency plan.

Journalling

The replication policies can specify how many data points should be included in the replication. This makes it possible to fall back not only to the most current state, but also to earlier points in time. This also allows the fallback to be deployed during major changes on the primary side.

Efficient network transport

To keep the data between the primary- and fallback location equal, Zerto uses patented technology to generate as little traffic as possible. This makes it possible to replicate a local environment with the appropriate RPO to a data centre with minimal bandwidth.

Test and automation of fallback

The fallback concept stands or falls with the ability to test without affecting the production environment. Besides the complete setup of an alternative IP plan on the secondary side, runbooks can be used to automate the fallback.

Fallback

For the fallback location, you can choose one of Fundaments' data centres where a complete fallback data centre can be set up based on vCloud Director. A link to the Internet and NSX firewall s made available as standard at no extra cost, enabling a fallback connection to the failed machines at all times.

Flexibility

The same flexibility in building blocks can be chosen in the fallback: storage can have different properties, so a fallback can also be realised without having the same performance characteristics. If you are using an on premises to Cloud migration, we can opt for efficient reservation on compute resources. Whatever scenario you choose, we will always migrate to a certified Cloud environment.
