Managed Firewall

With Firewall as a Service from Fundaments, your virtual environment is always equipped with powerful protection against (digital) threats. The firewall provides security, filtering and separation of traffic to your virtual environment and applications. In addition, the firewall analyses all data going in and out of your Cloud. Depending on the settings, it determines which traffic can pass the firewall and which traffic gets blocked.

Managed Firewall by Fundaments

At Fundaments, you can choose from two variants of Firewall as a Service: a Self-service or Managed Firewall. The Managed Firewall Service is offered with the Fortinet FortiGate. In this case, Fundaments takes care of the initial installation, basic configuration and set-up based on an extensive intake. In addition, Fundaments takes care of the following during the use of the firewall:

  • Regular periodic maintenance, such as updates to FortiOS
  • Security patching in accordance with Fortinet's recommendations

The Managed Firewall by Fundaments is the Fortinet FortiGate: a renowned player when it comes to firewalling.

FortiGate Next Generation Firewall

FortiGate is a powerful Next Generation Firewall based on years of Fortinet expertise. Fundaments delivers this firewall series in both hardware appliances and a high-availability virtual machine variant. An interesting bonus is that this firewall can be extended with various security features and bundles.

Physical or virtual FortiGate

When traffic volumes are large (from a continuous 500 Mbps) and/or when IPS/IDS traffic analysis is desired, a physical appliance is usually chosen. Fundaments has a standard appliance in its portfolio, offering a loose domain (vDom) on a Fortigate 300E. This configuration features both IPS and IDS and is limited to a maximum of 1 Gbps of traffic. The virtual variant of the FortiGate can be applied seamlessly in Fundaments' VDC. For this variant, a pair of two virtual appliances is always configured in active-standby. This configuration is a requirement for being able to offer the availability guarantee on the firewall.

FortiGate securitybundels

The FortiGate Next Generation Firewall can be expanded with additional security bundles. These include: Advanced Malware Protection, Web Security and AntiSpam. Fundaments can design the initial configuration of these bundles. If desired, Fundaments and a specialized partner can offer additional management on the security functionalities, for example in the form of a Security Operations Center (SOC).
